    Prostate cancer

    Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in men, and worldwide it ranks as the second most common cause of death caused by carcinomas, also called malignant tumours. In the Netherlands, each year approximately 12.000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, of which about 75% are 65 years and older.     Enlarged prostate

    A benign enlargement of the prostate is called BPH: benign prostatic hyperplasia. Approximately one third of the men older than 40 have an enlarged prostate due to hormonal changes. In most men, the prostate gradually increases in size.
